Valentine's Day Easy Dessert Recipe and Free Gift Tags

Updated: Jan 17

It's almost Valentine's Day and I've decided to start new traditions for every holiday with my kids. If you know me, you know I LOVE to bake. Chocolate chip cookies are my all time favorite cookie, but the sugar cookie comes in a very close second. Based on my love for cookies, I'm pretty sure my kids have turned into little cookie monsters themselves.

Since my husband and I are trying to slim down a bit right now, I'll be baking a big batch of treats and passing them out to the neighbors (and keeping just a few for ourselves). My oldest son loves passing out goodies around the neighborhood, so he's already sold on the idea. The little one just learned how to say cookie, so I'm taking that as his agreement to take on this project.

I bought some clear bags from Michaels and plan to package them up with a ribbon and my Valentine's gift tags. Need some gift tags of your own? Click here to download the free template and use the tags for any of your Valentine's Day gifts!

Heart Shaped Sugar Cookies

We decided to go with a simple sugar cookie, but added our own little flair to it. This no chill recipe from Mirlandra's Kitchen is seriously so perfect. The cookies keep their shape and are very delicious. I used a mixture of large and small cookie cutters, but you can use whatever you'd like! Also, instead of using the Almond Extract, I just use all vanilla extract. Click here for the yummy recipe!

After baking the cookies and letting them cool, here's a fun way to decorate them!

  • White Chocolate Chips

  • Coconut Oil

  • Festive sprinkles

  1. Melt together the white chocolate chips and coconut oil (the coconut oil helps the chocolate stay smooth) by microwaving in a microwave safe container. Microwave 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each 30 seconds until melted.

  2. Dip each cookie in the chocolate mixture, but only halfway so the chocolate taste isn't too overwhelming.

  3. Place it on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and added the sprinkles before the chocolate sets.

  4. Place in refrigerator to fully set chocolate.

Package it up!

After all of the chocolate has set, we added the cookies into a clear bag and wrapped it up with ribbon and our Valentine's Day Gift tags! So cute, delicious, and perfect to pass out on Valentine's Day!
